November 2013
Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you all for your prayers and support. We had a great missions trip to the Dominican Republic with the team from First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach. What a terrific group of people! Their love and devotion was such a blessing to us.
We were up and out everyday praying and witnessing in various neighborhoods around Santo Domingo. We visited and participated in the Institute classes every night. It was a joy to see all God is doing. Fifty-one people accepted Christ during the week! Our group had 2 teams that were fluent in language skills in Spanish and Creole! No one was left out. We were able to witness and plant seeds in areas where new church plants are being prepared and evangelizing in others areas already started.
Seeing the pastors from the Bible Institute was a joy for us!
The highlight for us was graduation on Saturday, when 210 graduates came to Santo Domingo for graduation. They came from the centers where they have been studying with L’Institut Biblique Logos. The students recognized Scott immediately from the DVD’s and were so happy to meet him! What a joy for us both!
Meanwhile God is still at work here in Miami, too. We are just completing 9 weeks of our classes. Even though we were gone classes took place with two very capable teachers and our registration crew was on hand to do registration and grade papers! We could not function very effectively without their help. Thank you Mom Nelson, Lois, Linda, and Florence!
It’s a team effort and we praise the Lord for what He is doing. We have over 60 enrolled in Miami and many others are taking classes by correspondence. These ladies grade most of the homework for us as well as set out food for refreshments for the students, take in registration fees, hand out books, etc. We are thankful to God for them and their ministry to us and the students. Our students love them and are always happy to see them!
God is at work in Haiti as well, as a team of young people work hard translating into Creole our courses from French . The goal is to make the courses even more available to everyone! Not to mention the depth of study of God’s Word to these young people, nothing helps you learn like translation work! The computers were bought by Logos via your contributions! We praise the Lord for what He is doing!
When the translation of a course is finished it will be sent to Scott for quality control then we will begin printing them in Creole where they are needed. Thank you for helping to make this possible through your prayers and contributions to this work.
Left: Evens is busy visiting the centers there in Cap Haitian, finding new centers for people that want to learn, also grading papers and sending them back to Pastor Scott.
Right: The next set of books ready to ship to Haiti for the classes ! More than 650 books, with homework and tests!
We continue to marvel at what God is doing through the internet as people from all over the world continue to find and do classes online.
This month we had people from 39 countries visit our site. 92 were from France, 74 from Dominican Republic and 74 from Haiti followed by Canada with 34. Most surprising was 1 from Venezuela who visited 10 pages! Many of the countries in Africa come every month! We even had a visitor from Japan who stayed on for 8 minutes. The gospel of Salvation is clearly presented on the site for free. So that’s why we get so excited when people come and stay awhile! Also the numbers form Germany and Switzerland continue to grow. We had 8 people come from Morocco and definitely stayed long enough to hear the gospel message! Next month we will highlight some of the internet students!
We thank God for all He is doing, for your support and prayers. We hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends!
We are looking forward to having our granddaughter Nicole back from college and we welcome our new grandson Brandon!
In His Love,
Scott & Dori Nelson
